The Pedagogical Training Institute (PTI) has designed various vocational training programs to meet the needs of the local market in key sectors that provide opportunities for self-employment or skills enabling individuals to quickly enter the job market, given the lack of traditional employment.
1. Student Support and Capacity Building Program (PISREC) – From Kindergarten to University
In a rapidly changing world marked by accelerating social, economic, and technological transformations, education systems must fundamentally rethink their learner support models. Too often, students go through their educational journey without continuous support mechanisms, personalized guidance, or transversal skills development, leading to high dropout rates, demotivation, and learning inequalities.
In response, the Student Support and Capacity Building Program (PISREC) was designed as a structural and systemic solution. It aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and effective educational continuity—from early childhood to higher education—while addressing learners’ cognitive, emotional, and social development needs at each stage.
2. Teacher Training
The quality of education fundamentally depends on the competence of its teachers. In contexts where initial teacher training is incomplete and continuous professional development is lacking, the education system becomes severely weakened at all levels—from preschool to university.
Therefore, investing in teacher training at all educational levels is a strategic priority—not only to improve learning outcomes but also to ensure social equity, lasting peace, and economic development.
3. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Training
With the rise of digital technology, skills in information technology—such as programming, web design, digital marketing, and network management—have become highly sought-after. These skills enable individuals to work remotely or offer freelance services in the gig economy.
4. Vocational Skills Training
- Training in trades such as carpentry, blacksmithing, electrical work, and plumbing provides self-employment opportunities. These essential community trades offer job prospects, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
5. Agriculture and Livestock Training
Agriculture and livestock are key sectors in countries like Mauritania. Training in sustainable farming, modern irrigation techniques, and agricultural management enhances self-employment opportunities and contributes to food security.
6. Construction Sector Training
The construction industry demands skills in masonry, plastering, tiling, and interior decoration. These competencies help meet housing and infrastructure needs in many developing countries.
7. Basic Healthcare Training
- With growing public health demands, there is a need for intermediate-level training in nursing, physiotherapy, and medical equipment maintenance. Such programs support understaffed healthcare systems.
8. Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training
- This training empowers youth to launch and manage small businesses, fostering entrepreneurship and reducing reliance on public-sector jobs. It covers financial planning, marketing, and resource management.
9. Tourism and Hospitality Training
Tourism is an emerging sector offering youth opportunities in tour guiding, hotel management, culinary arts, and guest services—strengthening local tourism industries.
10. Renewable Energy Training
With the shift toward alternative energy—especially in energy-scarce countries—training in solar and wind energy system installation and maintenance is in demand, creating sustainable job opportunities.
11. Customized Training
Whether you are an individual seeking skill development or an organization aiming to enhance employee efficiency, the Pedagogical Training Institute offers tailored programs to meet specific needs.
